Industrial Ovens and Industrial FurnacesThe terms furnace and oven are frequently used interchangeably within a wide variety of industries. This can at times be confusing when searching for the equipment that meets your specific needs.
An oven is defined in the dictionary as “an enclosed compartment for heating, baking or drying”. Typically, ovens are used for cooking, the most common type being natural gas.
A furnace is defined as “an enclosed space in which heat is produced by combustion or other means”. Furnaces are used in a many applications ranging from heating a home to steel making. This, of course, includes electric furnaces.
There is no clear temperature range or process that dictates use of an oven or a furnace. The key is to understand the requirements of your process and search for quality vendors accordingly.
